Former CrossFit Affiliate Owner Gets 60 Days in Jail for Her Part in Jan. 6 Capitol Riot

On July 21, a federal judge sentenced former CrossFit affiliate owner Dawn Bancroft of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, to 60 days in jail for her part in unlawfully entering the capitol in Washington, DC, on Jan. 6, 2021, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the District of Colombia.

She was arrested on Jan. 29, 2021, and in her arraignment on April 29, 2021, had pleaded not guilty on the four counts against her, but on Sept. 28, 2021, she pleaded guilty to the fourth count, which was parading, demonstrating or picketing in a capitol building. The misdemeanor charge could have meant up to six months in jail and fines of up to $5,000, according to the Washington Post.

In addition to the jail time, Bancroft must serve three years of probation, perform 100 hours of community service and pay restitution of $500.

On Jan. 6 while at the capitol, Bancroft filmed herself saying “We broke into the capitol … we got inside, we did our part. We were looking for Nancy to shoot her in the friggin’ brain, but we didn’t find her,” according to the FBI.

Nancy was allegedly a reference to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

Bancroft’s attorney had asked for a fine instead of jail time, noting in a court filing that after Bancroft’s arrest, CrossFit had terminated its affiliation with her as owner of CrossFit Sine-Pari in Doylestown and many of her clients had left.

But federal prosecutors sought a 60-day sentence calling her comment about Pelosi “among the most graphic statements uttered by any rioter on Capitol grounds that day.”

More than 800 people have been arrested and charged for storming the capitol claiming the 2020 presidential election had been stolen from Donald Trump, and about 200 of them have been sentenced so far, according to the Washington Post.
