CrossFit Affiliate Owner Arrested on Charges Related to Jan. 6 Capitol Insurrection

Dawn Bancroft, a CrossFit affiliate owner, has been arrested on three charges related to the Capitol insurrection on Jan. 6, according to a criminal complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

Bancroft, who owns CrossFit Sine-Pari in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, was arrested on Jan. 29 for knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority, knowingly engaging in disorderly or disruptive conduct in any restricted building or grounds, and violent entry and disorderly conduct on U.S. Capitol ground.

CrossFit LLC contacted Bancroft about the allegations and arrest and terminated its affiliation with her, according to Morning Chalk Up, a website that follows news in the CrossFit community.

Andrew Weinstein, CrossFit’s director of communications, told Morning Chalk Up: “The recent attack on the US Capitol was abhorrent and indefensible. We gave Ms. Bancroft an opportunity to respond to the allegations about her involvement, and she did not contest them or deny her participation, so we have terminated her affiliate relationship with CrossFit.”

On a video that Bancroft posted on Jan. 6, the criminal complaint states she said: “We broke into the Capitol … we got inside, we did our part. We were looking for Nancy to shoot her in the friggin’ brain but we didn’t find her.”

The criminal complaint alleges that the “Nancy” mentioned in the video was U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi, who is speaker of the House.

The video was sent to the FBI on Jan. 12. Bancroft had allegedly sent it to her children.

Bancroft entered and exited the Capitol on Jan. 6 through a window that had been broken by rioters, she admitted to the FBI, according to the complaint.

Club Industry reached out to a phone number on Bancroft’s CrossFit website and messaged its Facebook page but has not heard back yet.

A coaches page on the business’s website shares details about Bancroft’s background related to her work in the fitness industry.
