Wellness Is on the Minds of Potential Members; Medical Partnerships Can Help Attract Them

We’ve all read the results of surveys showing that Americans are more interested in their health and wellness due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Considering just 20 percent of the population belongs to a health club of some sort, we’re leaving a large percentage of the population trying to tend to their wellness needs and wants on their own or with online programs only, likely a bad recipe for people who have little knowledge or experience tending to their wellness.

So what can help you reach out to this 80 percent? Partnerships with the medical community.

Even though trust levels in many institutions have dropped during COVID-19, the level of trust that people have in their doctors remains high with 74 percent of those surveyed saying they have a mostly positive view of medical professionals, according to a study by Pew Research Center. In another survey by the nonpartisan research organization NORC at the University of Chicago, 84 percent of the public said they trust doctors, 85 percent said they trust nurses and 72 percent said they trust hospitals.
