San Diego, Calif., April 14, 2021 – American Council on Exercise (ACE) and the Personal Trainer Development Center have partnered on a new course that provides exercise professionals a complete educational program to build and grow an online personal training business. The new course, Online Trainer Academy, is created and led by Personal Trainer Development Center and provides a timely solution to the growing demand for virtual personal training services.

“We built the Online Trainer Academy for beginning and experienced online trainers alike,” said Jonathan Goodman, Founder of Personal Trainer Development Center and author of Ignite the Fire. “The Academy is a roadmap anyone can follow to help them achieve the future they’re imagining for their fitness career and personal life.”

Data shows that after a year of spending many hours inside with many people being less physically active than prior to COVID-19, there is a surge of people returning or beginning new physical activity regiments. Virtual personal training services are an ideal solution to reach people who have traditionally never considered working with an exercise professional or who may not be comfortable or interested in returning to a traditional gym.

“This course is essential education to all exercise professionals looking to modify or expand their businesses with online coaching,” said ACE president and chief science officer, Cedric X. Bryant, Ph.D., FACSM. “With more people seeking to improve their health through physical activity from the comfort of home, there is a great opportunity to work with people you may be unable to reach through face-to-face coaching.”

The Online Trainer Academy course provides exercise professionals with a flexible framework to build and grow an online training business. Contained in the step-by-step approach are sales and marketing resources, as well as business and legal templates that allow exercise professionals to move quickly and tailor their business goals.

The COVID-19 pandemic has put a spotlight on the importance of personal health. This has led to many businesses, government, and insurance organizations seeking ways to prioritize overall health and physical activity. The Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that employment opportunities for exercise professionals is projected to grow 15 percent from 2019 to 2029, much faster than the average for all occupations.
