In Celebration of Women’s Health Month, American Council on Exercise to Elevate Voices of Women in Fitness

  • Live Facebook discussions to explore personal stories and experience as women in the fitness industry
  • Guest speakers will provide advice for women trainers based on real world experience
  • Discussion will tie into larger issue of equity, diversity and inclusion within the health and fitness world

WHAT:
In recognition of May being Women’s Health Month, the American Council on Exercise announced a new dialogue series centered on women’s health and women fitness professionals. The series consists of three Facebook Live discussions, with each focusing on different specialties – personal trainers, health coaches and group fitness instructors. Hosted by members of ACE’s team, these inspiring talks explore the challenges women face in the fitness industry, address the importance of representation and provide insightful tips for aspiring fitness professionals. The series will be live on ACE’s Facebook Page

WHY

This series aims to continue ACE’s discourse around equity, diversity and inclusion by amplifying the voices of female fitness professionals. According to a 2018 article by MVP Sports Clubs, the vast majority of personal trainers, health coaches and group fitness instructors are women. The same article states that men outnumber women on most executive teams within the fitness industry, especially in CEO positions. This disparity between working fitness professionals and fitness industry executives who are women is just one of the challenges faced by women in the fitness industry.

QUOTE:

ACE believes in equitable opportunities for success in the fitness industry,” says Amanda Cass, ACE executive vice president of central services. “On behalf of the 50,000-plus ACE Certified Professionals® who are women, ACE is honored to amplify women’s experiences and begin a conversation for change.”
