Former Gym Client Operating New Franchise With Family in Bay Area

BRENTWOOD, Calif. (March 10, 2022) –  The Camp Transformation Center, a radically different fitness franchise with community-focused gyms that have transformed thousands of lives across the United States, is thrilled to announce the grand opening of its newest gym in Brentwood, California. The Camp Brentwood is a dream come true for franchise owners John and Sophia McKenzie, who immigrated to the U.S. from Fiji nearly two decades ago in pursuit of a better life for their family.

“I didn’t imagine business ownership was in the cards for us when we moved here 18 years ago,” Sophia says, describing how encouraged she felt by The Camp’s franchise support team. “When we first met with everyone, it was empowering to see what The Camp looks for in a franchisee. It’s not so much about professional background and financials as it is about your personality and belief in the program. My husband and I know we have the work ethic to be successful, but we also know we’re not alone.”

The McKenzies are certainly familiar with the fitness concept, having been introduced as members six years ago. Home of the free “20 Pound Weight Loss Challenge,” The Camp Transformation Center’s flagship program consists of group training with dynamic interval workouts, nutrition and supplement plans, highly qualified trainers, and a ton of positive emotional support.

Sophia did the 20-pound challenge with her then 19-year-old son and eventually got John hooked as well. And their daughter, Brooke, is serving as the director at the Brentwood gym, overseeing day-to-day operations.

“Experiencing this business first as a member is really what sold me on owning a gym. You name a program at The Camp, and I have done it,” Sophia explains. “There’s no judgment. Everyone is so supportive. The Camp has changed the way I look at myself, and the nutrition guidance has changed the way I look at food. I’m physically and mentally stronger, and I want to help others to experience that transformation.”

Founded by Alejandra Font in 2010, The Camp Transformation Center was born out of the realization that despite universal knowledge of how to lose weight — eat healthier and work out regularly — millions of people still struggle to get results. During an era of skyrocketing obesity, The Camp created a proven system to help this massively underserved audience achieve their goals.

“We are so proud to welcome the McKenzies to our franchise family,” says Alejandra Font, co-founder of The Camp Transformation Center. “We have worked tirelessly to create a culture at The Camp where anyone from any background feels empowered to achieve their goals, from the fitness goals of our members to the business goals of our franchise partners. Dreams are within reach with hard work, and Sophia and John are exemplary of what’s possible for those with determination.”

The new Brentwood gym is among more than 100 Camp Transformation Centers in the U.S., and the fitness franchise continues to expand rapidly across the country. The newest California franchise is located at 7830 Brentwood Blvd., Brentwood, CA 94513.
