Johnny G, creator of Spinning® indoor cycling, has sold his interest in the company he founded, Mad Dogg Athletics Inc., to the company's cofounder, John Baudhuin. Johnny G recently was diagnosed with a rare heart virus that put his life at risk, and he has decided to focus his time and attention on the Johnny G Foundation, a nonprofit organization that assists individuals and families struck by cardiovascular malfunctions and heart disease. Baudhuin assured Spinning® instructors, clubs and enthusiasts around the world that all business would “continue as usual.”

The National Council on Strength & Fitness has received accreditation by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), the accrediting board for the National Organization for Competency Assurance. The NCCA accreditation is an external audit of a certifying agency's exam. IHRSA has recommended that by 2006 its member clubs hire personal trainers that have certifications accredited by NCCA.

Gold's Gym of Douglasville, GA, held the city's largest outdoor cycling class to kick off the American Diabetes Tour De Cure, which is a benefit bike ride to help raise awareness and fight diabetes. The team from Gold's Gym of Douglasville was one of the largest Tour De Cure teams with more than 60 riders as well as being one of the top fundraising teams, raising more than $12,000.

Aphelion University will hold regional training events July 6-7 in Tarrytown, NY; Sept. 8-9 in Las Vegas; Oct. 5-6 in Dallas; Nov. 3-4 in Chicago; and Dec. 6-7 in Orlando.
