Mitch Wald, formerly COO and CEO of Sport & Health Co., is now CEO at Maryland Athletic Club & Wellness Center (MAC). In addition, Wald served as the vice president of Health Fitness Corp. and the past president of the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association (IHRSA). He also earned IHRSA's Distinguished Service Award. Wald's key responsibility at the MAC will be to prepare the company for growth, said Tim Rhode, co-owner of the MAC.

Healthtrax International Inc., a facility design, development and management company in Glastonbury, CT, was named Employer of the Year by the Employers' Association of the Northeast for Outstanding Commitment to Improving Workplace Culture.

Gainesville Health and Fitness Centers (GHFC) recently recorded more than one million visits in one year. Operations manager Shawn Stewart said GHFC met its goal by focusing on helping members to get results and using measurements such as membership traffic to set goals for the employees. GHFC operates two fitness centers and has a third location under construction.

After 20 years, Eau Claire Athletic Club is changing its name as of Feb. 1 to Unity Health & Fitness. The name change reflects a change in mission for the club. The club will be using community partnerships with other health professionals to unify the services of dietitians, physicians, chiropractors, physical activity coaches, nurse practitioners and other health care professionals, said Jeff Sauter, co-owner of the facility.
