Bill Affects Nonprofits

WASHINGTON, DC — The U.S. Congress passed the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act (S. 2590) last month. The bill calls for a free, searchable online database of contracts, grants, cooperative agreements, loans, direct payments, insurance and indirect financial assistance. The legislation would make information available on major commercial projects of tax-exempt organizations in the fitness field, according to the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association. President George Bush is expected to sign the bill once it reaches his desk, according to www.sourcewatch.org.
