Retaining Health Club Members in a Time of COVID-19

You may be more focused on getting existing members back through your doors now than you ever have been—and rightly so. These members already know you, and they are your lowest hanging fruit. To get them back in the door, you have to hang onto them and show them the value of retaining their membership, even if they are not quite ready to walk through those doors just yet. And even when you do get them to return, you need to ensure they like what they see and what you are offering so they will stay.

Club Industry has enlisted several retention experts to offer you some real takeaways on how to keep your members. And you can hear them all in the free Future of Fitness virtual event Nov. 16-18.

First up is Paul Bedford of Retention Guru. Bedford will offer an overview of the top 10 factors that his research has shown have a significant impact on retention and which of those you should focus on right now. His session is at 10:10 a.m. EST U.S. on Nov. 16.

More help is on the way that day at 11:20 a.m. EST U.S. when three experts take part in "Retention Quick Hits." In this session, you’ll get 10-minute retention quick hits from Justin Tamsett, managing director of Active Management; Chris Stevenson, founder of Stevenson Consulting; and Jenny Hymer, vice president of customer experience at MXM.

And then make sure to sit in on “Creating a Better Customer Experience” session at 9:55 a.m. EST U.S. on Nov. 18 by Blair McHaney, president and CEO of MXM. In this session, McHaney will frame up how the member experience and member expectations have changed, what it means for club owners and operators, and where the industry should focus its energy—all of which will help with retention.

Check out the full agenda for this event, including sessions on technology, marketing, healthcare integration, programming and personal training, political activism for the industry and more, offered by a premier group of speakers.

Make sure to register now, even if you can’t attend all three days. By registering now, you’ll get access to the sessions on-demand.
