Memorial Service for Midtown Athletic Club Co-founder Alan Schwartz Set for Feb. 5

Alan Schwartz, co-founder of Midtown Athletic Clubs, Chicago, will be remembered at a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. Central time on Feb. 5 at Am Shalom, 840 Vernon Avenue, Glencoe, Illinois, according to his son, Steven Schwartz, CEO of Midtown Athletic Clubs.

Alan Schwartz died on Dec. 2 at the age of 91.  

The service will be live-streamed on the Am Shalom website

Schwartz is survived by his wife Roslyn, his son Steven and daughter-in-law Claudia, his daughter Sally and her husband Louie Hondros, and his daughter Betsy and her husband David Brint. He was preceded in death by his son Andrew. He also is survived by eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren, according to his obituary.

Alan founded Midtown Athletic Clubs (at the time called Midtown Tennis Clubs) in 1970 with his father Kevie. The company now has four clubs in the Chicago area and one club each in Atlanta, Georgia; Rochester, New York; Weston, Florida; and Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
