David Beckham, Gunnar Peterson Create Soccer-Inspired Workout for F45 Training

F45 Holdings Inc., Austin, Texas, launched its newest workout, DB45, a workout that draws upon the workouts of soccer star David Beckham, the company announced on May 9.

The workout, which the company refers to as a football-inspired program because soccer is known as football outside the United States, was designed by Beckham, who is a global partner and investor in F45 Training, and by F45 Training Chief of Athletics Gunnar Peterson, who is a Hollywood trainer.

The program, which is an 11-station, soccer-inspired cardio class, launches on May 11.

DB45 combines exercises Beckham used in past training sessions and incorporates explosive, power-focused, multi-directional exercises. The 45-minute workout will see F45ers complete two sets in each station, moving through a “follow the leader,” soccer-inspired 4:4:2 class formation with stations representing typical soccer positions including Goal, Defence, Mid-Field and Attack.

Paying homage to Beckham’s jersey numbers from his career, the set timings will alternate between 32 seconds work, 15 seconds rest, and 23 seconds work, followed by 20 seconds rest. Users will complete the ultimate finisher with 7 x 30 second bodyweight exercises.

“I have loved working alongside Gunnar and the F45 team to create DB45, my first signature workout,” Beckham said. “For me, training as part of a team has always been my favorite way to work out, and my DB45 program is influenced by exercises I did as a professional football player. F45 always brings innovative and effective workouts to the timetable, and I’m excited for the F45 community to finally be able to try out mine.”

Peterson called working with Beckham “great fun.” The program offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the F45 community to train like an iconic athlete, he said.

F45 has sold 3,301 total franchises and 1,749 studios across 67 countries.
