D1 Training Signs Largest Deal in Brand History

D1 Training has signed a 12-unit deal, the largest deal in brand history, the company announced on Feb. 15.

The agreement, which is with Jonn Schumacher and Shayne Moberg, who own Elysium Sports and Training LLC, will bring new D1 Training facilities to Minneapolis, Tampa, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Long Island during the next five years.

Schumacher and Moberg will open their first four locations in Minneapolis and plan to develop the other metropolitan areas over the next 12-18 months.

This agreement kickstarts the D1 Training’s development goals to award more than 100 territories in 2023, bringing D1’s total number of units in development to over 250.

D1 Training had its best year ever in 2022 for number of territories awarded at nearly 90 and number of openings at 23. The company had 38 percent same-store-sales growth year-over-year.

D1’s growth is being fueled by a strategic investment from Princeton Equity Group. With this partnership, D1 is positioned for expansion and is seeking qualified, community-minded franchisees with a passion for the fitness industry to further develop locations throughout the United States.

Founded in 2001 by former NFL player Will Bartholomew, D1 Training began franchising in 2017. The brand was recently ranked in Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise 500, named a top 30 gym in America by Men’s Health Magazine, and appeared on The Inc. 5000. D1 Training has been endorsed as an approved training facility by the NFL Players Association and is a preferred partner of the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
