Barre3 Acquires The Barre Code

Barre3, a Portland, OR-based fitness company, says it has acquired The Barre Code. With the acquisition of the Midwest-based barre fitness company, barre3 says it becomes the largest omnichannel fitness brand independently owned and operated by women, with 185 studios nationwide and a digital platform with subscribers in more than 100 countries.

Founded in 2008 by Sadie and Chris Lincoln, barre3 executives say their vision is to redefine what success in fitness looks like. The Barre Code was founded by Jillian Lorenz and Ariana Chernin in 2010 to promote personal growth and self-acceptance in the fitness industry. This alignment, along with a shared respect and admiration for each brand’s achievements, made the acquisition a natural decision, say reprentatives of each company.

Over the coming months, The Barre Code studios will transition to barre3 studios with upgrades to existing locations, comprehensive instructor training, and more. The first class format to be integrated into The Barre Code schedules during this transition will be barre3 Signature, an efficient, effective combination of strength, cardio, and mindfulness. At a later date, studios will also offer class extensions including b3 Strength, a beat-driven class taught at a slower pace using heavier weights to build strength in body and mind; and b3 Cardio, a full-body workout designed to boost clients’ moods, build aerobic fitness, and increase stamina.

“The Barre Code mantra has always been ‘we live to evolve’,” says Lorenz. “Ari and I have watched our owners do just that throughout the past 13 years, including weathering the pandemic and coming out stronger and even more committed to their local studio communities. These owners are resilient, strong, passionate leaders, and we are excited to see them thrive in this next evolution with barre3.”
