EXOS, Formerly Athletes' Performance, Acquires MediFit

MediFit Corporate Services, a Florham Park, NJ-based wellness, fitness consulting and management company, has been acquired by Phoenix-based EXOS, formerly known as Athletes' Performance. Terms were not disclosed.

MediFit, founded in 1995, is No. 28 on Club Industry's Top 100 Clubs list this year with a reported $45.6 million in 2013 revenue. It also reported 130,000 memberships and 2,300 employees at 249 sites in 32 states at the end of 2013. MediFit's network consists of fitness centers at corporations, universities, community hospitals, community centers, residential communities and other recreational centers.

"Many companies talk about innovation, but EXOS is pioneering human performance to help people upgrade their lives, which is a mission we're excited to join," Vin DeProssino, co-founder, president, and CEO of MediFit, said in a statement. "We feel like EXOS is the perfect cultural match and a company that will strengthen the legacy we have worked to build over all these years."

EXOS, which was rebranded in January, said today that the acquisition accelerates its strategy of "designing and delivering performance game plans that guide people to achieve higher levels of success."

"The move strengthens our reach and resources, adds talented new team members and brings with it a successful company that has been trusted for decades by leading organizations," Mark Verstegen, founder and president of EXOS, said in a statement.

A spokesperson for EXOS said no employees from MediFit will be required to relocate from New Jersey, and there are no plans to change corporate office spaces. The EXOS corporate headquarters will remain in Phoenix.

With the acquisition, EXOS now serves more than 150 clients in more than 300 locations worldwide.
