Mark Mastrov and his company M6 Football are partnering with the Kansas City Chiefs NFL team to open the latest in Mastrov’s series of NFL team-partnered health clubs, according to an announcement from the Chiefs organization. The facility will be called Chiefs Fit and will be in the Kansas City suburb of Overland Park, Kansas.
Mastrov is founder and former chairman of 24 Hour Fitness, which he sold in 2014. He has launched multiple gyms in partnership with NFL franchises, including ventures with the San Francisco 49ers, the Dallas Cowboys, the Chicago Bears, the Cleveland Browns and the Houston Texans. Some NFL teams are looking for ways to engage with fans and generate revenue off the field, according to a story by Front Office Sports.
The 37,000-square-foot Chiefs Fit facility, which is set to open in spring 2021, will feature a strength and conditioning area with Chiefs-branded free weights, machines and cardio equipment, an indoor turf field and a recovery facility that features cryotherapy treatment, hydromassage machines, recovery systems, a sauna, spray tan booths and full-amenity locker rooms. The facility also will offer group fitness classes, personal training services, a fuel station and a retail shop that features Chiefs Fit branded gear.
The facility is being built with sanitization in mind, including touchless water fillers and approved Air PHX HVAC ventilation, according to the announcement. The club will undergo the social distancing, cleaning and sanitization best practices recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“We have continued to focus on health and wellness over the past couple of years, and not just for our players, coaches and staff.,” Chiefs President Mark Donovan said. “This focus has included looking for ways to promote health and wellness to our fans and in our community, and we think that having a state-of-the art fitness center with our brand, paired with the best staff, equipment and services, will provide a truly one-of-a-kind experience for workout enthusiasts of all walks of life throughout the Kansas City area.”
