ClubCorp Buys Heritage Golf Club

Adding to a string of 2016 acquisitions, Dallas-based ClubCorp, owner of several private golf and country clubs, business clubs, sports clubs and alumni clubs, has purchased Heritage Golf Club in Hilliard, Ohio.

ClubCorp plans to spend more than $1 million to improve the suburban Columbus clubhouse, golf course and practice facilities, according to a media release from the company. The club does not have a fitness center in it, and the company does not have plans at this time to add a fitness center, according to a company spokesperson.

Heritage features 18 holes designed by golf course designer P.B. Dye. It is shaped in the famous Dye tradition of “illusion and deception with undulating greens, signature railroad ties and numerous sparkling lakes,” the release explained. Amenities include a clubhouse that offers casual and upscale dining, plus private event space that accommodates up to 250.

“The value of ClubCorp’s Network, ClubCorp’s knowledge of the industry and their commitment to excellence and to capital improvements can only improve upon Heritage’s club traditions,” said Dan O’Brien, developer of Heritage Golf Club and co-owner for more than 20 years. “ClubCorp is the ideal fit for the members, employees and the community.”

Other ClubCorp clubs in Ohio include Firestone Country Club and Silver Lake Country Club in Akron, Quail Hollow Country Club and The Club at Key Center in Cleveland, and Dayton Racquet Club in Dayton. Heritage Golf Club operates more than 200 clubs in 26 states and the District of Columbia plus Mexico and China.

ClubCorp ranked No. 4 on the Club Industry 2016 Top 100 Health Clubs list with 2015 revenue of $1.1 billion.
