ClubCorp Acquires Country Club in California

ClubCorp, Dallas, acquired the Bernardo Heights Country Club located in north county San Diego on Dec. 18 for an undisclosed purchase price, according to the company.

ClubCorp plans a multi-million dollar reinvention project that will bring new dining, social and family features to the club experience. The project is expected to include a new outdoor patio with lounge seating and a fire pit, a new expanded grill featuring handcrafted menus and large-screen televisions, new fairway bunkers and completion of greenside bunkers renovation, new golf cart fleet and new golf course amenities, and new family-focused events and programming.

The acquisition of Bernardo Heights Country Club marked the ninth club acquired by ClubCorp in 2015.

"We are excited to add Bernardo Heights — a beautiful facility that offers an outstanding golf experience — to the ClubCorp Network," ClubCorp President and CEO Eric Affeldt said in a statement. "San Diego is a top destination for our many traveling members. With the addition of Bernardo Heights, we now have three premier private golf and country clubs plus a first class business club in the area."

Other ClubCorp clubs in the San Diego area include Morgan Run Club & Resort, Shadowridge Golf Club and University Club atop Symphony Towers.

"Bernardo Heights members appreciate the value the ClubCorp Network brings, ClubCorp's knowledge of the industry and their commitment to capital improvements," Bernardo Heights Board of Directors President Jim Sahagian said in a statement. "A modernized clubhouse, combined with the renovations on the golf course, will make Bernardo Heights a top-tier country club in the San Diego region. We look forward to this new chapter for the club."
