University of California Police Arrest Locker Room Peeping Tom Suspect

BERKELEY, CA -- University of California (UC) police have arrested a man who was using a cell phone camera to photograph women in the showers at UC Berkeley’s Recreational Sports Facility, according to several media outlets.

The suspect, Gregorio Hernandez, 29, reportedly dressed as a woman to sneak into the women’s locker room on two separate occasions in early October but escaped before police could question him. Hernandez was arrested Thursday at the university’s Martin Luther King Jr. Student Union. He has been charged with disorderly conduct.

The suspect is not a UC student but was a member of the recreation facility, which is open to the public.

“He was an associated student member,” says Eric Craypo, director of communications for UC Berkeley’s Department of Recreational Sports. “This means he was a student at another institution, but we don’t know where.”

Craypo added that Hernandez’s membership has now been revoked.
