Students who returned to campus last month at the University of Toledo were greeted by a renovated recreation center.
The school shut down the center for most of August to carry out a modernization of the facility, according to The Independent Collegian, the university newspaper.
Officials say they hope the improvements, which cost between $500,000 and $600,000, will enable more students to use the center. About 3,000 students a day visit the facility.
Workers installed new rubberized flooring in the fitness area, cleaned workout machines, painted the facility and updated the swimming pool area.
