NIRSA Executive Director Steps Down

Kent Blumenthal has stepped down as executive director of the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA).

The news of Blumenthal’s departure was posted on the association’s website on Jan. 9. Blumenthal, who had been a member of the NIRSA Foundation board since 1997, left “to continue his professional and personal growth and to pursue other interests,” according to the NIRSA website.

Deputy Executive Director Pam Watts is now the interim executive director. Watts, who has been with NIRSA since 2000, had served as the association’s chief operating officer and chief finance and strategy officer before taking on the role as deputy executive director last June.

NIRSA represents staff and students at more than 700 colleges and universities. The NIRSA Conference and Expo will be March 27-30 in Tampa, FL.
