Friends of FitKids

News from our favorite fitness non-profit.

Operation FitKids (OFK) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the development of America's youth by providing schools, community centers, and other public venues with recycled commercial fitness equipment to promote youth wellness nationwide. The organization works together with existing community outreach programs to maximize manpower capabilities and budgets.

To achieve its goals, Operation FitKids relies heavily on the support from companies that will benefit from the promotion of youth wellness, including commercial health and fitness facilities and suppliers to the industry. And already, many have assisted the association.

Each month, Club Industry joins Operation FitKids in recognizing in this column everyone who has provided the most recent support for this charitable organization. Please join Operation FitKids and the Club Industry staff in our appreciation of these community-minded fitness professionals.

Special Programs,br> The Stamford Athletic Club and AgeFit, both located in Stamford, Conn., will donate $1 for all current members through September, and will continue to donate $1 for every new member who joins the facilities. "It's a small contribution from my facilities, but potentially a great one for Operation FitKids," said operator/owner Glenn Colarossi, if other clubs participate in a similar manner.
