Countless types of diets have been put to the test in the never-ending quest to lose weight and shed fat. Unfortunately, most come and go with little long-term success, leaving dieters feeling defeated and pessimistic about their ability to achieve their weight-loss goals. Yet, fasting is one approach that’s been around for thousands of years and is gaining traction among the masses as an effective way to naturally lose weight and shed excess belly fat.
Fasting—the practice of abstaining from all or some types of food for a period of time—is one of the best go-to plans for losing weight, but it can still be a bit daunting for some. After all, fasting is basically code for starving yourself, and few people want to sign up for a plan in which ravenous hunger is a constant hurdle. This is why many forgo even considering a fast to lose weight.
However, new fasting techniques and programs make the practice much more palatable to the public. No longer does one have to gut it out to get to the fasting finish line. With a few tweaks, what was once achievable with only water and worry can now be accomplished with food and confidence. Today, fasting can be a surprisingly easy method for achieving a variety of health benefits. Researchers have found that a type of fasting known as alternate day fasting led to an average of 7.3 pounds of extra fat loss when compared to the weight loss typically associated with a low-calorie diet (800 daily calories or less), according to a recent study published by the National Center for Biotechnology Information.
Intermittent fasting (IF) calls for days of normal eating followed by fasting or eating a highly restricted diet of less than 600 calories for men and 500 calories for women. Many people follow a five-to-two schedule for IF. This means they eat normally for five days a week and fast two (non-consecutive) days a week.
IF is an effective technique for weight loss, but it can be challenging for those eliminating all foods from their diet on the selected fasting days due to increased hunger. Also, because periods of IF don’t typically extend beyond two days, the body does not experience the effects of biological fasting and the positive health effects that come with it such as greater stress resistance, visceral fat loss, metabolism support and cellular clean-up.
The ProLon Fasting Mimicking Diet (FMD) also calls for significant calorie restriction during a five-day period—leading to rapid weight loss. However, unlike some of the popular IF approaches, FMD minimizes feelings of hunger by providing specific amounts of nutritious foods to eat throughout each day of the fast. In clinical trials of generally healthy people doing one ProLon fast per month for three months, subjects lost an average of 5.2 pounds of fat and reduced their waste circumference by 1.2 inches—all while preserving lean body mass.
FMD lasts for five days, it’s able to trigger profound biological changes that extend well beyond weight loss while still protecting the body from potentially dangerous side effects associated with not eating for extended periods.
Along with significant weight loss, ProLon’s FMD has been shown to enhance performance, which allows your clients to feel greater focus, clarity and energy through the benefits of a leaner body. Importantly, it also enhances the body’s natural processes of cellular clean-up and stem cell regeneration, which is naturally triggered when the body is in a prolonged fasting state (three or more days).
ProLon is a five-day dietary program that nourishes your body while promoting regenerative and rejuvenating changes, including supporting healthy levels of a wide range of physiological markers that contribute to aging, such as cholesterol, inflammation and fasting glucose. Fasting without the hunger.
