How Will Personal Trainers Be Regulated Under New Laws or Legislative Proposals?

Although the proposed adoption of licensing/regulation laws in Florida and Massachusetts represents yet another proposal in a long list of proposals put forth in various jurisdictions since the 1980s, the adoption of legislation in the District of Columbia may well reflect the first of what may become a trend.

The District of Columbia recently passed legislation requiring personal trainers to register in that jurisdiction, and the legislatures in Florida and Massachusetts recently introduced legislation to license or in some manner regulate personal trainers in those states.
