Workout Buddies Increase Retention

SAN RAMON, CA -- Eighty percent of people surveyed said that having an exercise partner would help them adhere to an exercise plan, according to a survey conducted by StrategyOne on behalf of 24 Hour Fitness, San Ramon, CA.

Eighty-three percent of the survey respondents said that a workout partner would help motivate them to work out, 82 percent said a partner would encourage them to live a healthier lifestyle, 82 percent said a partner would make working out safer and 78 percent said a partner would make working out more fun.

In addition, 85 percent of respondents said that working out with friends and family would get those individuals more fit and would help strengthen bonds.

The biggest hurdle to working out with a partner is finding a time that works for both individuals’ schedules, according to eight of 10 respondents.

StrategyOne surveyed 1,000 Americans 18 and older in March.
