23 Fitness Franchises Land on Entrepreneur’s 2020 Franchise 500 List

The top fitness franchise on the 2020 Entrepreneur Franchise 500 list was Planet Fitness, Hampton, New Hampshire, but 22 other fitness franchises also made the list.

Planet Fitness ranked in the top 10, coming in at No. 7. The 41st annual list ranks franchises in a variety of industries based on five pillars of performance: cost and fees, support, size and growth, brand strength, and financial strength and stability.

"It is an honor to hold the highest ranking for a fitness brand on Entrepreneur's Franchise 500 list. This recognition demonstrates our brand strength and growth as the industry leader," said Planet Fitness CEO Chris Rondeau. "Our continued expansion and positioning in the industry is credited to our dedicated franchisees, their ongoing investment in the brand and commitment to the Judgement Free Zone."

9Round ranked No. 139 on the list. 9Round Co-founder Shannon Hudson shared his thoughts on the growth of fitness franchising in the February edition of the Club Industry Podcast. Listen to the podcast here.

For a second consecutive year, Xponential Fitness, had three brands on the list: Club Pilates, Pure Barre and CycleBar.
