Parks Department Addresses Childhood Obesity

WESTERVILLE, OH -- Westerville Parks and Recreation Department in Westerville, OH, and Children's Hospital have partnered to create FitQuest Kids' Club, a program to address the obesity epidemic among young children. FitQuest Kids' Club is a component of the already popular FitQuest, which is a campaign to educate children and their parents about the importance of healthy eating habits, physical activity and decreasing exposure to television, computer screens and video games. The Children's Center for Healthy Weight and Nutrition is also a partner of the FitQuest Kids' Club, providing nutrition guidance for a weekly nutrition and activity calendar that children ages 5-12 can use to help them make healthy nutrition and physical activity choices and earn fun fitness-related items when they reach goals.
