In-Shape Health Clubs, Stockton, California, opened its newest club in Napa, California, this week.
“Napa is a community that is very focused on health and wellness, and we waited years for the perfect location and partnership. We have been very lucky to have the support of the Gasser Foundation and the City to make sure that we offer the residents of Napa a complete fitness destination," In-Shape Senior Vice President of Design and Construction Brendan Kelly told Club Industry.
In-Shape: Napa is part of the approximately 12-acre South Napa Century Center site being developed by the Gasser Foundation, which contributes between $1.5 million to $2 million annually to Napa-area hospitals, hospices, homeless shelters and cultural organizations. The club is part of a more than 80,000-square-foot commercial development that includes a 12-screen movie theater and a 105-room Hampton Inn.
The project cost for In-Shape to build the Napa club was approximately $6 million. In-Shape's plan for the project was approved by city planners in 2013, but the company was forced to scale back some design elements in 2014 to meet budget when it was discovered the facility located next to the Napa River needed a more expensive foundation.
This week's opening is In-Shape's first club in Napa and follows the company's opening of its seventh Bakersfield location last week.
"The fact that our club is a portal to the Napa Valley Bike trail is a huge plus for us and the community," Kelly told Club Industry. "The focus in Napa on food, health and fitness fits our approach to our clubs to offer members a fitness, relaxation and resort destination.”
In Shape Health Clubs opened four locations in California in 2015. In-Shape: Lancaster East opened in March, In-Shape: Seven Oaks opened in May, a club acquisition in May became In-Shape: Indio, and In-Shape: Cathedral City opened in August. The company declined to share any additional club openings that may be planned for 2016.
Amenities at In-Shape Fitness facilities include free weights, group fitness classes, indoor and outdoor pools, cardio equipment, basketball, tennis, racquetball and personal training.
