SoulCycle will open two new locations in Boston in early 2017, according to a Boston.com report. The locations will be located in Dedham's Legacy Place and the Seaport District. SoulCycle opened its first Boston club in Chestnut Hill in 2014 and followed with expansions to the Back Bay in 2015 and Beacon Hill earlier this year.
Planet Fitness opened its first location in downtown Los Angeles on June 15, according to Los Angeles Downtown News. The 30,000-square-foot facility signed up more than 1,000 members during pre-sales activity, gym manager Erika Flores told the publication.
Orangetheory Fitness is expanding with a third location in Oahu, Hawaii, and plans to open eight total locations in the state, according to Pacific Business News. Orangetheory plans to use Hawaii as a launching point for international expansion and the Pacific, regional partner Rowland Chaulk told PBN. Orangetheory CEO Dave Long told Club Industry last month the company is preparing to focus on international expansion in 2017.
The $18 million Bronzeville Arts and Recreation Center in Chicago opened with summer programming last week, according to the Chicago Tribune. The center has a full-size swimming pool, a fitness room, gymnasium, multipurpose rooms and rooms with wood spring floors for dance classes.
Gold's Gym recently opened a location and held a ribbon-cutting in Reading, Pennsylvania, according to the Reading Advocate.

Anytime Fitness recently opened locations in Kent, Washington, and Van Wert, Ohio, according to media reports. A third Anytime Fitness location is planned for Farmington, New Mexico, according to the Farmington Daily Times.
The rollout of Juice Press locations inside Equinox clubs continues with a second Greenwich, Connecticut, location, according to the Greenwich Free Press. The partnership between the two brands announced in April will add 19 Juice Press locations in Equinox clubs, double the number of Juice Press locations in the Northeast from 29 to 52, according to Well + Good.
Snap Fitness is planning to open a 5,022-square-foot location in Santa Clarita, California, according to the Santa Clarita Valley Signal.
Construction is underway on an expansion to the TAG Center, Mayville, Wisconsin. The 13,300-square-foot addition will bring the facility's total footprint to 59,000 square feet. Included in the expansion are golf rooms, community fitness, a large group exercise room, a bike room and a 24-hour fitness offering, according to The Daily Citizen.
Sky Fitness & Wellbeing is expanding to a third location in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which may open by Jan. 1, 2017, according to the Tulsa World. Sky President Jay Wagnon said the location off Broken Arrow Expressway is an "underserved market."
The board of the YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities in Minneapolis, Minnesota, has approved plans to acquire several floors in a downtown building on Nicollet Mall, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune. The Y will sell its current location in LaSalle Plaza to move into the 105,000-square-foot location, which will house its downtown headquarters, flagship health center and community service activities.
The YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh plans to sell its Cloverleaf YMCA branch pool at the end of the summer to focus funding on an indoor fitness complex under construction in Bethel Park, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune. The Bethel Park facility is expected to open in April 2017.
The Shenango Valley YMCA in Farrell, Pennsylvania, has received $150,000 grant funding from the Commonwealth Financing Authority for equipment and expansion, according to WFMJ.

The NBA's Atlanta Hawks recently unveiled a basketball court renovation at William Walker Recreation Center, according to The Atlanta Voice. The franchise announced in 2015 plans to revamp 25 metro Atlanta basketball courts in five years to provide better access to the game.
The Bessemer, Alabama, Community Recreational Complex held a ribbon cutting on July 2. The new recreation center will include a space for fitness and cardio equipment, an indoor walking track, a collegiate-sized gymnasium, activity rooms and an indoor pool, according to WVTM-13.
Dr. Steven Mortazavi is seeking to build a $13 million, 54,000-square-foot health club – Valley Wellness Center – in Hanover Township, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, according to Lehigh Valley Live. Mortazavi's proposal is expected to go before Hanover Township supervisors for final approval this month.
