LA Fitness Renovates in San Diego, Expands in Upstate New York

Fresh off the completion of its acquisition of Lifestyle Family Fitness, LA Fitness remains active in the building and remodeling of clubs across the country.

The Irvine, CA-based company announced it is remodeling 10 clubs in the San Diego area. LA Fitness says it is spending more than $5 million on the renovations.

“San Diego has always been a great market for our clubs, and the community has been incredibly supportive with our growth,” Bill Horner, senior vice president and chief real estate officer of LA Fitness, said in a statement. “Members of these clubs will have access to other clubs in the area so that they do not experience an interruption in their normal routine.”

One LA Fitness club in Encinitas, CA, has already been remodeled. The majority of the renovations will take place next month. Those clubs typically will be closed about four days before reopening.

LA Fitness also is building four new clubs in upstate New York, the Henrietta (NY) Post reported. The Henrietta, Irondequoit, Buffalo and Clarence clubs are expected to be completed by early next year, the newspaper reported.

Last Friday, LA Fitness announced it had completed its acquisition of the 32nd and final Lifestyle Family Fitness club in the Hyde Park section of Tampa, FL. The completion of the purchase of the Lifestyle clubs was announced on July 2, but negotiations continued between the two companies involving the Hyde Park club.
