A personal trainer in Florida is facing charges of sexual battery and kidnapping for allegedly raping a co-worker.
Keith Karlsberg, 46, who works at a LA Fitness, according to a Local10.com report, was arrested by Fort Lauderdale Police on July 9 and pleaded not guilty. He was denied bond and is being held in the Broward County Jail, according to online court records.
Karlsberg said he had consensual sex with the woman three times at a hotel after a May 30 party with co-workers, according to a police report cited by Local10.com.
Witnesses told authorities the woman was passed out at the party, and two people at the party tried to keep Karlsberg from leaving with her, according to the police report cited by the Sun Sentinel.
"At one point he shoved a female out of the way, who was trying to help," Broward Judge John Hurley said during a bond court hearing. "She fell to the ground. At another point, this defendant allegedly punched a man who was trying to remove the alleged victim from the vehicle—punched him twice in the face."
There is an alleged video showing the woman in a passed out state being held up by Karlsberg as they went to the hotel room, Hurley said.
Karlsberg attorney Alex Strassman told CBS Miami the account of Karlsberg's assault at the party and alleged video evidence in the case are a "mischaracterization of the facts."
