Health Fitness Corp. Takes Over Former Life Time Club in St. Paul

ST. PAUL, MN -- A former Life Time Fitness club in St. Paul, MN, will reopen in December under management by Health Fitness Corp.

The club, in downtown St. Paul’s University Club building, is under renovation, building owner John Rupp told the St. Paul Pioneer Press. The building also will revert to the name St. Paul Athletic Club after being known as the University Club for years.

“This is probably a $70 million building if you had to reproduce it,” Rupp told the newspaper.

Last year, Life Time closed group exercise classes at the club as a result of declining membership and club usage. Life Time had plans to convert the space into an express club this year, but the company let the lease expire this past summer and moved out of the building in August after Rupp and the Chanhassen, MN-based company did not come to terms on a lease renewal.

Under Health Fitness’ management, the club will include cardio and strength equipment, free weights, a group exercise center, a yoga studio, a pool, racquetball courts, saunas and steam rooms, the newspaper reported.
