#InShapeFightsCancer campaign exceeds expectations thanks to generous community

STOCKTON, CA. NOVEMBER 17, 2017: In-Shape Health Clubs, California’s top destination for fitness and recreation, announced today it raised $130,000 for cancer research in the month of October during its Fight Cancer campaign. Funds will go to the American Cancer Society and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

"We knew a goal of $100,000 was ambitious, but today I am proud and humbled to announce that we surpassed our goal by $30,000! We could not have done this without the support, participation and generous spirit of our members, team members and partners. Thank you for helping us make a difference in the fight against cancer,” said In-Shape CEO Rich Nelsen.

Funds were raised in a variety of ways. In-Shape donated a dollar for every new member and referral who joined in October. It also raised funds by selling paper kettlebells, hosting special weekend warrior classes, selling tee shirts and tank tops and donated for every post in social media tagged with #InShapeFightsCancer.

As part of the campaign, In-Shape sponsored, and team members participated in, 3 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer events in Stockton, Modesto and Bakersfield. The $15,000 flagship sponsorship will help The American Cancer Society fund life-saving breast cancer research studies, crucial patient care programs, and education and prevention initiatives. In total, In-Shape donated $100,000 to the American Cancer Society.

In-Shape also partnered with Hollis Belger, one of the top individual fundraisers for St. Jude Children’s Hospital, and hosted a soccer clinic and shootout competition for kids and families at the club in Antioch. In-Shape raised a total of $30,000 for the children’s hospital.

“At In-Shape we have one goal – to inspire our communities to live healthy, fit and happy. We know that by supporting The American Cancer Society and St. Jude Children’s Hospital through our Fight Cancer campaign, we can fulfill this mission in a meaningful way while funding innovative research that will ultimately reduce the number of lives lost to this disease,” Nelsen finished.
