(January 7, 2021 – New York, NY) When mother and son duo, Elizabeth Silver and Russell Silver-Fagan, founded KleenWraps in 2014, a global pandemic was the furthest thing from their minds.  At the time, Russell was visiting home from law school and using his mother’s elliptical machine to stave off holiday weight.  Elizabeth wanted a way to share the machine without sharing the sweat residue left over from Russell’s latest workout. With a bit of ingenuity and a pantry found beer koozie, the KleenWraps prototype made its in-home fitness debut.  Elizabeth realized that they were the perfect solution for people using similar machines in every gym.

Six years later in 2020, COVID-19 was making its way across Asia, Europe and at its early stages in the United States. In March, both Elizabeth and Russell, like millions of other Americans, were laid off from work and their small cottage business was ripe to grow. With the public’s heightened awareness to securing personal protective equipment (PPE), KleenWraps’ began to expand its pathogen-protecting products—establishing itself as the first-to-market in a brand new consumer category of fitness and wellness essential accessories providing a barrier of protection with a design and brand intention.

The KleenWraps suite of machine washable products, large and small antimicrobial grip covers, handlebar covers and facemasks, provide consumers with safety and piece of mind from COVID-19, as well as other airborne and surface pathogens, including flu strains, MRSA and Staph.  The narrow and wide grip covers ($14.99 & $19.99, respectively) are a patented design of bonded neoprene squares treated with medical grade iHeir-333 antimicrobial technology and equipped with silicone grip nubs and Velcro closures. The grip covers are intended for use as barriers to cover shared, hand-held surfaces such as gym equipment (dumbbells, barbells), grocery carts, commuter poles, railings and gas station pumps; the handlebar tubes ($19.99) have a complementary design with one open and one closed-end for ease of sliding over the grip of shared strength training equipment, stationary bikes, rowing machines and outdoor bike-share programs.

In October, KleenWraps debuted its facemask ($19.99) designed for gym and everyday use. The KleenWraps facemask was developed after extensive research by celebrated product and fashion designer, Chris Gelinas. The ultrathin, quick-drying neoprene with two-way stretch bonding mask is vertically designed to model anatomical structure. These features allow for enhanced breathability and ultimate droplet protection, without the need for constant adjustment. KleenWraps facemask is sold in two colors (signature yellow and black), and two sizes (regular and small), comfortably fitting most faces.

KleenWraps is committed to go-to product solutions for health and wellness conscious consumers. KleenWraps’ products are available for purchase through its direct-to-consumer Website, partnership programs with leading companies such as Crunch Fitness and its first brick and mortar sales at Showfields two locations New York City and Miami.

Said Silver-Fagan, "At KleenWraps we are excited to provide gym owners relief by equipping members with the tools they need to take cleanliness and pathogen mitigation responsibility into their own hands."
