Bangkok, 28 June 2022 – Jetts Fitness, the largest estate of health clubs in Thailand, has unveiled expansion plans for the remainder of 2022 that return the brand to its rapid pre-pandemic growth rate.

Having launched its inaugural site in 2017, Jetts Thailand had already reached 30 clubs by the time the pandemic hit and slowed development, with a total of eight new openings between March 2020 and March 2022.

Now back on track with its pipeline, its latest club – the brand’s 39th – opens in Sai Mai in northern Bangkok in mid-July, with Jetts Central Chantaburi following in November. A further two new openings will take the estate to 42 by the end of the year, with confident predictions of surpassing 50 locations during 2023.

Jetts Fitness claimed the mid-market space for its own when it launched in Thailand five years ago, creating a model which Jetts Asia CEO and industry veteran Mike Lamb says “offers members everything they could wish for in the space of 600–800sq m”.

The gym is comprehensively kitted out with top-of-the-range Matrix equipment, a dedicated group exercise studio provides a timetable of Les Mills programmes, and a best-in-class functional training space in the middle of the gym floor hosts signature J Series group HIIT classes. There are also VIP male, female and unisex changing spaces – a conscious bid to lead the gender classification agenda in the Thai fitness market.

All Jetts Fitness clubs offer 24/7 access, with membership costing an average of THB 1,500 a month (GBP 35, USD 43, EUR 40). This includes full reciprocal access to the Jetts club network across Thailand.

Yet Lamb is clear that Jetts’ affordable price point is just one contributor to the brand’s success: “We’ve successfully positioned Jetts Fitness as the coolest gym in Thailand, harnessing a great line-up of influencers and strong marketing campaigns to own this position. As a result, we appeal to a far broader audience than I believe we would have done had we focused on value alone.

“We’re also open 24/7 and offer convenience of location: we have more clubs in more regions of Thailand than any other fitness operation – many within flagship shopping malls owned by property giant Central Group – and around half of our new openings will be outside of Bangkok. Our affordability really is just an added bonus.”

He concludes: “Jetts Thailand is a story of ‘right time, right place, right business model’, meeting local needs in a way I believe is unparalleled. We now intend to roll out our proven model to service as much of the country as possible: I believe, in a country of Thailand’s size and with its population of 68 million, a vision of 100 Jetts Fitness clubs isn’t an unrealistic one.”

Jetts Thailand is part of the Fitness & Lifestyle Group (FLG), which is headquartered in Australia and helmed by Group CEO Greg Oliver. FLG also owns and operates Jetts clubs in New Zealand, while the Jetts Australia portfolio comprises both franchised and corporately owned clubs.
