KATY, Texas. – BODYBAR Pilates (BODYBAR), known for its use of integrative, athletic-driven workouts that unite the Pilates method and modern exercise trainings principles, announced today that it has signed an agreement to raise the bar in Katy with three BODYBAR locations coming to the area.

The Reformer Pilates studio concept that has become a health and wellness hit in the Dallas – Fort Worth area is now elongating that enthusiasm into Katy under the leadership of Karie and Varune Maharaj. Blending its focus on strength, toning and modern movement with a warm, welcoming, spa-like environment, BODYBAR creates a Pilates experience unlike any other. It is all centered on fostering a destination where a community of members can come together daily to maintain sound mind, body and spirit.

“As we searched for business opportunities that aligned with our values of community, health and wellbeing, BODYBAR checked all of the boxes,” said Karie. “When we met the BODYBAR team, it was clear that they would provide us the support needed to establish our studios in the Katy area. It’s a tight-knit community that we know will greatly benefit from BODYBAR’s mission and purpose, and we look forward to opening our first studio in early 2023.”

Originally from Trinidad, Karie and Varune bring with them experience in all aspects of entrepreneurship. Varune holds consulting positions within the oil and gas industry while also owning a compostable product company. Karie, on the other hand, began her career in procurement and has spent the last five years managing residential and commercial properties as well as serving as the Director and Executive Secretary for Vector Energy Consulting. Together, they are fulfilling their ultimate goal of opening their own family-oriented business, and their combined experience will aid in their growth with BODYBAR.

“Texas is our home state, so it’s been a goal of ours to expand into the Houston area for quite some time,” said Matt McCollum, CEO of BODYBAR Pilates. “Karie and Varune are the perfect people to introduce Houston to our concept, and we’ll be there to support them every step of the way.”

The new BODYBAR location will be the first in the Greater Houston area. Using core Pilates exercises and equipment, BODYBAR Pilates offers a wide range of 40 to 50-minute classes at varying intensities that are low-impact and perfect for increasing flexibility, muscle strength, posture and boosting overall health. Whether a member is a 70-year-old wellness guru, a 40-something working parent, or a 25-year-old who is just getting started, there’s a BODYBAR class to meet everyone’s personal fitness goals.
