Planet Fitness CEO Chris Rondeau is a semifinalist for the 2016 EY Entrepreneur of the Year award in the EY New England Program.
The EY Entrepreneur of the Year honors those who are building and leading successful, growing and dynamic businesses. The awards program in its 30th year recognizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate excellence and extraordinary success in areas such as innovation, financial performance and personal commitment to their business and communities. The regional, national and global awards programs are in more than 145 cities and more than 60 countries.
Rondeau was selected as a semifinalist by a panel of independent judges, according to a media release. Award winners will be announced at a special gala event on June 23 at Boston Marriott Copley Place.
“It’s an honor to be recognized as an EY Entrepreneur Of The Year semifinalist,” Rondeau said in a statement. “I have been building the Planet Fitness brand for over 20 years and I feel more passionate and energized about this business every day. What began in New England as an idea for a differentiated fitness experience has grown into the 'Judgement Free Zone' and now one of the largest and fastest-growing franchisors and operators of fitness centers in the United States.”
Regional award winners are eligible for consideration for the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year National program. Award winners in several national categories, as well as the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year National Overall Award winner, will be announced at the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year National Awards gala in Palm Springs, California, on November 19. The awards are the culminating event of the EY Strategic Growth Forum, a nationwide gathering of high-growth, market-leading companies.
