Omaha Kroc Receives $10K from Pro QB

OMAHA, NE -- The Omaha Kroc Center has received a $10,000 donation from the city’s United Football League (UFL) team quarterback, according to a press statement.

Jeff Garcia, a former NFL quarterback who also is captain of the Omaha Nighthawks, made the gift to The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Omaha, which hosted the team’s meetings and practices during the 2010 season and will do so again in 2011.

The Omaha Kroc Center opened in 2009, one of the first wave of community centers made possible through a $1.5 billion bequest by Joan Kroc, wife of McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc. It features one of the largest fitness centers in Omaha, along with an aquatics center for recreational and competition use and sports and recreation fields.

The $10,000 gift will be used to provide scholarships for children in the community who could not otherwise afford memberships.
