This contoured handle supports the hands natural arch, creating a comfortable solid grip. The outside shoulders of each handle have been expanded to 50 mm which actually centers the hand and prohibits the painful sliding impact caused by old style handles during workouts. Since you do not need to grip the weight so tightly, you can focus your attention more on the muscle you are targeting.

Hampton's custom Dura-Lock^™ end cap, which secures the plates in place, has been restyled as well, and flush-mounted for longer life and comfort. Sometimes it's the little things that can really make a big difference in improving product quality and minimizing maintenance. The Dura-Loc is secured to the handle with a heat-treated, Hex-head bolt at 110 foot-pounds of torque reducing the need to tighten loose plates. No more of those Allen bolts that can become loose and stripped over time.

The Eclipse actually holds two types of finely tooled plates. The first is a chrome plate with a protective rubber rim. Should it ever wear, the rubber edge is easily replaced, so you don't have to purchase a whole new plate, just snap it in place. The rimmed plate protects the slightly smaller internal chrome plate that provides extra stability and the Eclipse's sleek uniform look.

Eclipse dumbbells are available in Club Packs, packaged in popular standard sets, and here's a change, the racks are included. No more mismatched equipment and unstable displays. Options include: 5 to 50-lb., 55 to 100-lb., 105 to 130 lb., and a 15 to 40 lb. set to double up on frequently used sizes.

  Manufactured exclusively in the United States from heat-treated, turned, ground and polished steel, all Iron Grip bars are made with durable, product-specific Nylotron bushings that ensure free and continuous rotation through years of heavy use. The bars' steel sleeves are precision-machined to prevent plates from sliding too freely, and they are secured to the shaft by shoulder bolts with nylon-impregnated threads coated with a proprietary locking compound. This method of securing the sleeves prevents the bolts from loosening prematurely and cuts down on unnecessary maintenance.

  Life Fitness recently introduced a new line of independent stairclimbers that feature optimal biomechanics and cutting-edge technology. Based on university research, the patented IsoTrack mono-roller belt-driven pedal system is banked at the optimal angle to simulate real stairclimbing.   Breaker Benches

  Magnum Revolutionizes Olympic Benches

  Every facility is looking for new products that will motivate members, improve their workouts and make training safe.

  Free weight training has been on the rise for the past few years. Most manufactures now offer complete lines of sophisticated plate load machines to help members make the transition from the circuit area to the free weight area. But little or nothing has been done to the main staple of every free weight area — Olympic benches. Magnum's patent pending Breaker Benches are about to change the free weight area — forever.

  In the mid-eighties most manufactures started to angle the uprights or racks on Olympic units, back away from the lifter, rather than making them at a 90-degree angle to the floor. This design took the uprights out of the users lifting path, making lifts safer by eliminating the chance of the lifter hitting them during their exercise. Unfortunately, this design puts undue stress on the lifters shoulders (a very common injury area) when breaking the bar from the bench. The only safe way to prevent this stress is to have a spotter help break the bar for the lifter.

  Magnum Breaker Benches eliminate the need for a spotter to help break the bar. They also eliminate any undue stress to the lifter's shoulders, allowing them to break the bar effortlessly. Breaker Benches are truly the greatest advancement ever made in Olympic benches.

  Breaker Benches look like any other Olympic bench with uprights angled back. The difference is they are hinged on pillow block bearings. The lifter gets into a normal lifting position reaches up and grips the bar. At this point the lifter CAN break the bar as they always have or they can have the Breaker Bench ASSIST them by slowly pulling the bar forward rather than lifting it off the uprights. The bar will move into their position of power, eliminating the external rotation of their shoulders. Now they can lift the bar STRAIGHT up. The uprights fall back into their normal position, out of the lifter's path. After completing their exercise set, the bar is re-racked as usual.
