Plate Manufacturers Settle Suit

SUN VALLEY, Calif. - Iron Grip Barbell Co. and Fitness Products International have reached a settlement concluding the litigation between them.

Iron Grip had sued Fitness Products for infringement of its patent and trade dress rights relating to weight-lifting plates that have multiple handgrip openings. Fitness Products counter-sued for a declaratory judgment that Iron Grip's patents and trade dress rights were invalid and not infringed.

As a result of the settlement, Iron Grip's patents and trade dress rights remain valid and enforceable, and Fitness Products is free to manufacture and sell its current Jade weight-lifting plate design, which features three equally spaced handgrip openings.
