Life Time to Open Shared Workspace Concept Near Minneapolis in Early 2019

Life Time, Chanhassen, Minnesota, is bringing its shared workspace concept to the Twin Cities region with plans to open more in the area, the company recently announced. It also is expanding its race portfolio.

Life Time Work will open near Life Time Athletic St. Louis Park at the Towers at West End in early 2019, with additional locations slated to open in downtown Minneapolis and Edina, Minnesota.

"We all have seen the impact of technology advancements and other changes influencing how work gets done," Life Time CEO Bahram Akradi said in a media release. "However, workspaces haven't adapted nearly enough to address this evolution. Life Time Work addresses this by providing innovative shared work environments that champion a healthy and fulfilling work life by enabling members to be more productive, engaged and fulfilled. Every detail has been carefully conceived to uniquely address the needs of accomplished professionals seeking an alternative to the traditional long-term lease or challenges faced by remote teams working from their homes."

This marks the second Life Time Work location, after a 12,000-square-foot location opened inside Life Time Athletic Ardmore, Adrmore, Pennsylvania, in May.

Life Time is planning to open additional Life Time Work locations in Houston and Gainesville, Virginia, in the near future, the release said.

In other news, Life Time on Sept. 18 acquired Kansas-based mountain-biking race the Dirty Kanza. This adds to Life Time's race portfolio, which includes the Leadville Trail 100 series in Colorado and the Chequamegon Fat Tire Festival in Wisconsin.

"Ultimately, the added resources Life Time brings will allow us to continue all that is great about Dirty Kanza for our athletes and the broader Emporia, Kansas, community," race co-founder Jim Cummins said in a recent blog post. Cummins noted that the format of the race will not change.

Life Time also announced it is opening Life Time Sport, a soccer-centric sports concept, inside the former Minnesota Vikings practice facility at Winter Park in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

Life Time ranked second on Club Industry's Top 100 Health Clubs of 2018 list with an estimated $1.55 billion in 2017 revenue.
