Gold's Gym International Makes Acquisition

A franchise in California joins GGI’s family of corporately owned clubs.

LONG BEACH, Calif. — Gold's Gym International (GGI) has acquired the Gold's Gym franchise at 345 Pine Ave. in Long Beach, making it the 19th club owned by GGI. It is also the third corporately owned gym in GGI's Los Angeles cluster, which includes gyms in Venice and Pasadena.

Prior to the acquisition, the club was owned and managed for 12 years (five years at the current location) by Ed Connors, and Michele and Jeff Fee. “Jeff and I are delighted over the sale of our franchise to Gold's Gym International,” Michele stated in a press release. “We look forward to seeing GGI carry on the success that we enjoyed here in Long Beach”

“GGI is excited to add the Long Beach Gold's Gym to our growing list of company-owned gyms,” said Gene LaMott, GGI's president and CEO, in the same release. “Jeff, Michele and Ed have done a tremendous job here in Southern California, and we look forward to expanding upon the momentum that they have created.”

The Long Beach gym occupies 26,000 square feet of a three-story, 38,000-square-foot building. GGI plans to take advantage of the remaining space, according to the press release. Subtenants at the facility include 25 personal trainers and NutraPeak, a 1,200-square-foot retail store that offers nutritional products and supplements.
