Gold's Gym Restructures Franchise Group

VENICE, CA — Less than a year after its purchase by TRT Holdings, Gold's Gym has hired new executives in its franchising department and restructured the group.

The company hired Keith Albright as senior vice president of franchising to oversee all franchising operations. Joel Tallman, formerly vice president of franchising, has been promoted to vice president of U.S. franchising, partnering with Luis Campalans, who will spearhead international franchising operations as vice president of international franchising. Kay Corio, who previously held the position of vice president of franchising, has been promoted to vice president of franchise communications.

“These moves will allow Gold's Gym to provide an even higher level of service and support to our franchisees,” said Gene LaMott, president and CEO of Gold's Gym International. “We're taking a much more turnkey approach as we evolve our franchise model, and gym owners can expect to see increased operations support, enhanced brand marketing support and improved frequency and focus on training.”

Albright previously served as vice president of franchise development and senior vice president of new business development for Blimpie International. Albright also owned The Pinnacle Group, a consulting firm for potential franchise businesses.

Tallman is a 20-year veteran of the health club industry, and has been a part of the growth of Gold's Gym's domestic operations, the company said. He previously served as an area director for Bally Total Fitness.

Under Campalans' leadership, Gold's Gym's international operations have grown to more than 100 locations with new gyms opening in the United Kingdom, Peru, Brazil and Japan. He will continue to expand the company's operations overseas.
