Club Industry 2007 Keynote Speakers

Laila Ali will offer the keynote address at Club Industry 2007 at 11:45 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11. Ali will speak about how a motivational plan is necessary to living a healthy lifestyle. Ali found this out first-hand — she did not work out prior to taking up boxing. She realized that if she wanted to become a world champion like her father, Muhammad Ali, she had to dedicate herself to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Her commitment to train and compete helped her become the current undefeated super middleweight champion of the world. She also became a finalist on the ABC show “Dancing with the Stars” this year. Ali has used her training knowledge to reach out to others by making a cardio fitness DVD with another boxing champion, Sugar Ray Leonard.

Dr. Mike Nichols will speak at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, about his medical experience and how he feels a well-informed fitness professional can benefit the health club industry. Nichols founded TempusClinic in Los Gatos, CA, in 2002 after more than 20 years of experience working with patients at the Saratoga Walk-in Clinic in Saratoga, CA. Nichols channeled his education from the University of Chicago, Loyola (IL) University and Stanford Medical School to treat patients who suffered from coronary artery disease, diabetes and other chronic diseases. At TempusClinic, Nichols paved the way for Advanced Early Detection Diagnostics, which helps in detecting early stages of chronic diseases.
