Five years after purchasing the Racquetball & Fitness Clubs of San Antonio, Spectrum Clubs Inc. officially turned the San Antonio, TX, club into a Spectrum Health Club in October, beginning a $50 million expansion in the city. Spectrum Clubs plan to expand in San Antonio adding to its eight existing facilities by opening 10 new facilities in the next three years. Spectrum Clubs will start by investing $4 million for upgrades to its existing San Antonio clubs and by building a $6 million, 45,000-square-foot club in an upscale neighborhood. The new club should be open next summer.

Bally Total Fitness led “game day” fitness activities Oct. 2 at the Worldwide Day of Play events, part of Nickelodeon's Let's Just Play grassroots campaign to get families more physically active while promoting positive and healthy lifestyles. Activities were held in Chicago, St. Louis, Phoenix and Tampa and included Tae Kwon Do, Youth Yoga and Hip Hop Dance.
