The Lotte Berk Method is now available for licensing after being brought to the United States 35 years ago by Lydia Bach, who used the Method at her two studios in New York and the Hamptons. The Parisi IAP Institute of Speed and Athletic Performance opened in late February in Morris Plains, NJ. The facility, broken down into two separate components, has more than 30,000 square feet of athletic training space as well as an adult lifestyle enhancement center. This opening marks the completion of the first health club designed by Design42 since Daniel Henkel, who started the architectural firm two years ago, left the firm of health club designer Fabiano Designs.

FreeMotion Fitness teamed with Parisi Speed School to help provide fun and educational training experiences for youth ages 7 to 21 looking to improve their physical performance and confidence levels. The training, available to clubs across the country, is a three-month program designed to decrease body fat and increase speed, strength and flexibility.

The National Institute of Health Science and EduMed Corporation announced a new turnkey on-line program that focuses on mature adult education for certification maintenance of personal trainers. The initial focus of courses will be on seniors, with the starting topic of senior strength. It will be presented in 10 components and is accredited by the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and accepted by the American College of Sports Medicine. Each component is worth .1 (1 hour) of ACE continuing education credits.

The five finalists of the 8th Annual SPORTS EDGE Sports Product of the Year Award were announced at the Super Show in mid-January in Orlando. Riviera Fitness opened three new locations in Huntsville, Birmingham and Memphis. It brings the organization's total to 23 clubs, with clubs located in Memphis, New Orleans, Alabama and northwest Florida.
