Anytime Fitness, Woodbury, Minnesota, is seeking franchisees to expand the company’s footprint in Ohio where it plans to open 30 new clubs within the next two years, the company announced.
An open real estate market as well as successful existing franchisees have helped grow the brand to 80 locations in the state, the company said in a media release.
Columbus, Ohio, and Akron, Ohio, are the main areas under consideration for expansion, according to the company, which plans to expand through single or multi-unit agreements.
Franchisees who purchase Ohio territories before the end of 2020 will receive a 25 percent discount on the franchise fee, which is a $10,000 savings on a single territory purchase.
"With proof of concept in the region and a neighborhood-focused culture that resonates perfectly with the supportive atmosphere of our gyms, we're poised for explosive growth throughout the state," said Tom Gilles, director of sales and real estate for Self Esteem Brands, which owns Anytime Fitness. "Growing our presence in Ohio is an opportunity for us to strengthen our Midwest roots and welcome new franchisees looking to create a supportive gym community that helps members achieve their health and wellness goals."
Anytime Fitness, which has 4,800 gyms on seven continents, averages 300 new gyms per year. It ranked No. 16 on the 2019 Club Industry Top 100 Clubs list with 2018 revenue of $132.9 million in revenue from its 38 company-owned locations and franchisee fees from its franchised locations.
