New York-based fitness franchise; signs lease for location in Syracuse
NEW YORK, NY – Blink Fitness – a premium-quality, value-based gym that has challenged industry norms by celebrating how exercise makes you feel, not just how it makes you look – is opening its first upstate New York location in the Syracuse area.
Owned and operated by Dean Panos, the 20,000 square foot Syracuse location is slated to open in September 2018 at 4979 W. Taft Road in Liverpool, New York next to Wegmans Food Markets. It is the first major tenant to occupy the former Chase-Pitkin space in over 15 years. It will also be the first of five locations Panos plans to open over the next several years.
“I’m thrilled to introduce the Syracuse community to a gym that delivers such a high-quality member experience at an accessible price point,” said Panos, who formerly served as Vice President of Operations for eight of his father’s McDonald’s franchise locations before the family sold the stores back to the corporation. ”I am equally as excited to share the same rooftop as a nationally recognized Fortune 500 company who delivers the same high-quality experience as Blink Fitness. It is a gym that Syracuse residents have long demanded and deserved.”
Blink Fitness offers a truly unique experience to its members, based on a company philosophy of Mood Above Muscle™, which celebrates the positive feelings you get from exercise rather than just the physical benefits. Their Feel Good Experience® comes to life in each gym through a commitment to providing contemporary and colorful design, elevated customer service, relentless focus on cleanliness, energizing music and confidence-boosting training programs.
“Blink’s focus on how exercise makes you feel is a game-changer in an industry that has historically emphasized the need for flat abs and bulging biceps,” added Panos. “Blink’s unique Mood Above Muscle™ philosophy is far more aspirational to the majority of Americans who have been disenfranchised by the typical images of body perfection espoused by other fitness concepts.”
Since its inception in 2011, Blink Fitness has opened nearly 70 company-owned locations across New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and California, and has a number of additional corporate- and franchisee-owned locations in various stages of development in major U.S. markets. According to company president Todd Magazine, Blink will have approximately 90 locations open and operating by the end of 2018, and will enter additional markets, including Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan and Virginia, over the next several years. He also expects Blink to surpass the 300-unit mark over the next five years.
“Dean’s character, extensive franchise experience and connection to Blink’s mission are just some of the reasons why we are thrilled to see him take over our expansion in Upstate New York,” said Magazine. “We spent years of perfecting our systems and building our franchise support team and we are excited to see Dean take those resources and elevate the brand further in our home state.”
