Beachbody Offers Insanity Certification to Gyms; Life Time Fitness Signs Up

Following on the heels of its P90X certification, Beachbody now offers Insanity certification for personal trainers and group exercise instructors at health clubs. Life Time Fitness is one of the first clubs to sign up.

Beachbody, Santa Monica, CA, now offers an Insanity certification for personal trainers and group exercise instructors at health clubs, the company announced. Beachbody already offers a P90X certification for health clubs.

Life Time Fitness, Chanhassen, MN, will be one of the first health clubs to offer the programming in its 105 clubs.

"As a proponent of healthy living, we aim to provide individuals with the necessary tools to help achieve their health objectives, athletic aspirations and fitness goals by engaging their areas of interest," Kimberly Glick, national director of group fitness programming and education for Life Time Fitness, said in a press release from Beachbody. "Demand for Insanity from our customers, fitness professionals and partners has been a constant for years. We're proud to be among the first clubs to offer INSANITY classes at every location and are excited to roll out classes in the coming months."

The certification process consists of a $249, one-day, eight-hour workshop designed to teach instructors an exclusive Insanity workout, including all modifications. The workshop concludes with a written test assessing the instructors' practical knowledge to effectively train clients in a group exercise setting. After completing the certification process, instructors receive posters, business cards and other tools to help them promote the new class offering.

Beachbody Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Carl Daikeler said in the press release that fitness professionals had been requesting the program for their gyms.

"Because the structure of Insanity fits naturally within the group exercise model and has mass appeal for both men and women, expanding the franchise into the commercial fitness realm made a lot of sense," Daikeler said.

The first workshops took place this month at the 2013 Empower! Fusion Weekend Fitness Celebration in Chicago. Additional workshops will be scheduled nationwide at the end of this month.
