Club Industry’s New Partnership Offers You More Business Education around the Country

In November while I was at an industry event, I happened to have breakfast with Sara Kooperman, CEO of SCW Fitness Education. We discussed several topics, including how the 2018 Club Industry Show had an uptick in conference attendance and an increased focus on business operations.

During that breakfast, Kooperman turned to me with a proposal: What if Club Industry offered business sessions at her MANIA events around the country in 2019?

It was an intriguing offer. One that we eventually accepted. One of our goals is to educate the fitness industry so that we can improve the health and wellness knowledge of fitness professionals and business owners in the country. That’s one way to professionalize our industry and help us play a larger role in facilitating the abatement of the obesity crisis. (To that end, check out our obesity report to find out what others are doing and what you can do to help decrease obesity rates.)

So, it was a whirlwind process, but due in large part to the efforts of Kooperman and the SCW staff, Club Industry will be sponsoring the Club Industry Business Summit at seven of the nine MANIA events in 2019.

Each Club Industry Business Summit will include 44 seminars on business topics (marketing, technology, trends, sales, retention, social media, programming, finance and leadership) led by fitness and business experts. The summits will occur at the MANIA Conventions in New York City, San Francisco, Orlando, Atlanta, Dallas, Philadelphia and Boston. Visit www.scwfit.com/CIB to check out details of the first event in New York Feb. 22-24 and to see the dates for the other events.

These sessions are ideal for owners, managers and directors at commercial clubs, studios, YMCAs, JCCs, parks and rec facilities, universities, and hospital wellness centers.
